Puzzled! Whats The Deal?

my set up is gtx 1080 SC, i7 4790, ddr3 16gb ram, ssd 250gb. and a 144hz 24inch Benq monitor. My question is I seem to encounter some random fps drops or lag cant tell the differance at random times while playing BF4, BF1 what is the cause of this? haha any help would be greatly appreciated!

could be win10 being win10 and just doing random stuff and using your precious performance

I have windows 8.1 64 bit though?

check for some background processes using your cpu during the lags.
