Is it a bios password? A windows password?

If it is a bios password, you are screwed.

If it is a windows password, there are some tools on the internet that let you change the password.

Bios password- you have to reset CMOS, search up how.

Windows password - based off of what you said, it's your Microsoft account, try resetting it using another computer, from their website.

If that fails, well you can reformat your computer, if you don't have any files you need.

If you have files you need, you can boot from another copy of windows, and if you have admin, you can access your files.

A Windows 8 or 10 based account linked to your Microsoft Account can only be reset from Microsoft. The password is stored on Microsoft servers. So use another co mputer to change the account password.

And it's not the email address password, it's the Microsoft Password.

The bad thing about a Windows 8 or 10 PC with Windows account password is that you cannot reset with build in Windows reset application without that password. Hopefully OP has the HP recovery partition. Boot, hit ESC, then choose F11, then there would be an HP option under troy me shooting. Otherwise, you would need to create a bootable USB.

You don't need 3rd party tools. Shift F10 opens up CMD, and you can do everything from there to remove local account passwords.

(MAC is even easier).
