Hi, my motherboard is an Asus Z87 Sabertooth and this issue started last night after I unplugged the mic jack on my headset from my PC (I normally leave it plugged in and just plug out the headphones when I am not using them). My audio drivers have two connector settings, "HD audio" and "AC97".

In HD audio the mic is no longer detected by the PC at all, while in AC97 the mic is detected and working but audio is played through both the headset and speakers and manually turning off the speakers seems to be the only way to get audio through the headset only.

I updated to the latest drivers this morning but it had no effect. The physical connector used is the HD audio one. The UEFI is set to HD audio (I tried changing it to AC97 but it had no effect).

I was using the HD audio setting before this started.

I imagine fixing either problem would work fine but, I'd rather get the HD audio mic issue sorted.

Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

That is fairly tricky to access on my case (zalman Z11 plus (the ports are on the top, not the front panel itself)) so I couldn't get a good look at it, but from what I can tell from sticking my phone in to get a picture, it's a plastic connector into the audio ports and from getting a hand on it, it seems fine, besides the mic is working in one mode, but not the other which makes me think it is a software issue. Thanks anyway though.

Hi, my audio jack was working when I had that connector not plugged properly, but instead of playing audio as it should i was able to hear .. for example guitar but I was unable to hear bass, or I was able to hear piano sound and not violin.. it was really strange. When you unpluged your mic you may moved that PCB a little and it lost contatct with pins. Here take a look at it I had one outside of case so I took image for you to show how exactly it looks while its not plugged correctly.

And if this not issue then I have no idea waht it can be. Maybe youre right and it is software.
