Hey guys

so I know what afr1 and afr2 do, and I understand what splitframe rendering is

but what I don't get is what the nvdia sli profile is ?

Is it simply just one of these methords nvdia think is best

or are they one of these with tweaked algarhythems ?

I think it means 2 cards SLIed, or 3 cards, or 4 cards, etc. All of those are probably different profiles.

Quote me to see my reply!

When you run an application the video driver checks its name (for example 3dmark.exe) and if the name matches a name in its database of profiles it automatically applies 3d application settings (so yes, things like alternate frame rendering and frame render ahead buffer) to the game to ensure sli works as well as it can.

The list of settings is viewable, if you open Nvidia Control Panel then click 3D Application Settings you'll get the full list of what they can apply to the game in a profile. You can even override the Nvidia profile by creating your own if you like.

Nvidia test many games with multiple cards to determine best setting then include the settings they find to work the best as profiles in driver updates.

The reason Skyrim Remaster didn't get a new profile is because it didn't need one, Bethesda didn't change the exe name between the vanilla game and the remaster and because it was mostly just texture based changes the profile for vanilla skyrim worked for the remaster as well.
