Why exactly do you think 120.5 MB of RAM is not "heavy" for editing text?!

This is heavily dependent on the plugins that a person is using and what is actually in the editor at the time. While I agree, in fact MS Word only uses like ~ 35 mb of ram any given users actually use case may be a poor citing for actual performance.

because its next to nothing in terms of my total ram usage and it does everything I need to for that.

 

I just opened all the files I have opened in atom in notepad and it is using 54MB but I now have 6 windows open and not one.

Again, even a heavily extended Emacs only hogs a fraction of those resources.

I'd recommend Brackets. Light weight but very powerful. I personally use PHPStorm for most of the stuff i do now, just because i find the project overview better.
