Hi guys, I'm preparing a spec list for my elder brother who's currently studying at university and I was preparing different spec lists regarding his budget which is sort around the 800 to maybe around a 1000 pounds price mark which for you guys who're lazy to convert the prices to USD

Hey Guys, I'm configuring a spec list for my elder brother who is currently studying at university.

I spoke to him over the phone about his requirements which are typically gaming so-to-write, some video editing although I'm segregating the software from the budget he's given. Although he aims to do some video editing as a hobby as he's really fascinated into visual animation & typography, the budget he's set for himself is around £800 pounds which is the equivalent to 1200-1300 dollars. I'm also willing to chip in he's my elder brother so I want the best of what he n' I can afford etc and maybe squeeze him a bit to make it worth a while longer.

So I set out to build a under/on target budget system around the £800 GBP mark around 1300 USD.

This system is based on the AMD AM3+ FX processors.

Build 1 AMD ATX size Affiliated link @amazon.co.uk

cpu : amd fx 8320 8 core black edition   price : £115.99
cpu cooler : cooler master hyper 212 evo   price : £25.98
motherboard : asus crosshair 5 formula-z   price : £167.98
ram : corsair pro vengeance 8gigabytes 1866mhz   price : £85.66
gpu : asus geforce gtx 760 direct cu2   price : £195.46
ssd : samsung evo 120gigabyte drive   price : £73.99
hdd : western digital 1terabyte blue drive   price : £47.35
case : zalman z9 midi (atx, matx & mitx)   price : £41.58
psu : fractal design tesla r2 80+ gold 500w   price : £66.14

Total £817.47 with heatsink cpu cooler

without heatsink cooler

£793.48

Considering pulling out the 760 for a geforce 770. Can't remember if AMD has a gpu set near the 770's price point

I don't have any of the parts as a fyi.

This other build which I based off either the new Intel chipset, Z87 maybe the Z77 I'm still making my mind up.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maximus-VI-Motherboard-Express-GameFirst/dp/B00E1JUT70/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1384383057&sr=8-3&keywords=mitx+lga+1150

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maximus-Motherboard-Chipset-LGA1150-Socket/dp/B00DB4HZFA/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1384383022&sr=8-10&keywords=matx+lga+1150

I'm debating between these two motherboards as one has the better audio quality and the other has a better somewhat VRM solution as well as upgrading to either SLI or Crossfire X. Not so sure about using the Intel processors atm they're all so pricey in the UK.

I'd really appreciated your experience with your components, knowledge and open minds to feel free to write what I can do to make it worth his while. If you know of any online-sites where I can save a couple of quid please put it into your comment and as always.
Thanks Kingsley.

It's not about being lazy about converting currencies. It's just more accurate to use the correct one because prices change from region to region.

Overkill on the mobo.

The 7950/7970 are AMD's competitors for the 760/770.

I swapped out the xfx 7970 for a msi 780 twin frozr 4, to be honest once he orders the parts I'll assemble it for him adding extra touches. Thank you guys for contributing to my post. I'd thought I was still darn lonely with dead post :( *CRYING* but my heart is filled with content :)
