hdd to m.2

i have all my data on a hdd atm and its gettin full only 500gb hdd so ye and i was looking at getting a 1tb ssd to replace it and just copy the drive but i had a thought get a m.2 ssd and havin that as my storage and then i can take the drive cage out my case coz air flow but can i do this and would i have any issues with windows on doing so?

I would move the OS while you're at it. That way you can always upgrade your other SSD (if you have one).

I would duct tape that drive somewhere to keep as a Steam library for CoD/BF/whatever doesn't require large amounts of data.

i want to remove the drive cage from the case all to geather as it blocks a lot of air flow
