Hello everyone.

I am considering reviving my old gaming pc. I have a newer one right now (store bought), but want to build my own in the future. Reviving this old PC wil be my first experiment with building PC's.

Current parts:

-p55-usb3 motherboard

-I3 550 3.2ghz

-4mb of ddr3 ram

-sz 400 dr power supply

-some old 500gb hdd

The PC works right now, but its extremely slow.

No idea what is the name of the current graphics card in it atm, but I have an old gtx760 that I will put in it.

My goal is to run csgo at 60 pfs with at least medium settings in 1080p.

I think i need:

-a new HDD (or ssd?)

-a new processor

-a wifi connector

But I am totaly inexperienced. All I know is from watching some LTT video's. What parts would I need to upgrade? What parts do you guys advice?

The pc is currently running windows 7, but I lost the disk for it many years ago. Can I move the windows to a new hdd or would i need to buy a new key (i believe windows 7 keys go for 30 euros?)

I have about 100 euro's to spend on this project and live in the Netherlands.

Thanks for any advice!

8GB of RAM is a priority.
Then get a Core i5 750/760 or i7 860/870 (depending on $$).
After that, you can think about HDD/SSD.

CPU : Core i7 6950X @ 4.26 GHz + Hydronaut + TRVX + 2x Delta 38mm PWM
MB : Gigabyte X99 SOC (BIOS F23c)
RAM : 4x Patriot Viper Steel 4000MHz CL16 @ 3042MHz CL12.12.12.24 CR2T @1.48V.
GPU : Titan Xp Collector's Edition (Empire)
M.2/HDD : Samsung SM961 256GB (NVMe/OS) + + 3x HGST Ultrastar 7K6000 6TB
DAC : Motu M4 + Audio Technica ATH-A900Z
PSU: Seasonic X-760 || CASE : Fractal Meshify 2 XL || OS : Win 10 Pro x64

If you want to do anything other than CS:GO, 8GB of RAM will be useful.
But, if you want to safe few $, go for CPU instead and see how good it will do on 4GB.

Depending on how old your psu, it might be safer to upgrade that, but then again, if you hardly used it, it should be fine. (More due to how PSU's degrade overtime).

SSD would definitely be worthwhile, would speed it up

You could upgrade your mobo at the same time as your cpu and get something more current (4-6th gen i5 or a skylake pentium).

If you shop around for mobo's, you can find some w/ built in wifi, I think Asus ROG Strix comes with wifi (at least on the Z270)

Depending on power usage, 400w may be too little or approaching the upper limits of your PSU.

Current System Specs:

CPU: Intel I5-7660K; CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212X; Thermal Paste: IC Diamond 7 Carat; Motherboard: MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon;

RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8gb) DDR4 - 2400; SSD Storage: 1TB Samsung 850 EVO; Storage: 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm;

GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1070 8gb G1 Gaming; Case: NZXT Phantom 530 Black; PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 650W 80+ Gold, OS: Windows 10 Home
