So my dad has a pretty shitty G530 that I picked up ages ago to flash a bios. He uses it to browse the web and play Diablo 3 but the graphics performance is less than stellar. Anyone got any tips for overclocking the iGPU? So far I've gotten it to 1400Mhz and it's quite a bit faster now but it's hard to test since all I can get is a power usage in watts and a core clock.

Btw what's a good stability test for low end GPUs? I've been trying to find one that will actually run not to mention one that can run faster than 5fps.

Edit: don't recommend buying a dedicated GPU because that's not the point of this post.

I'd just get a cheap GPU. Even old ones are better than the Intel iGPUs.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Fella OCing iGPUs is a waste of time, effort and hardware. Expect a component death soon if he keeps gaming with one.

just get a cheap GPU if you can cause you dad doesn't sound like he is trying out for MLG.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

You all are ignoring my post. He isn't going to buy an external GPU anytime soon and he puts up with the crappy igpu. I'm well aware that when a 30$ GPU would be better but why spend that much when you can spend a bit more for much more performance? Anyways I'm trying to get the most out of the igpu since that is what he has in the system.

Also as a hardware enthusiast I'm all about getting the most of it the hardware even if it's crappy.

He's been gaming on it for well over a year. There's no reason it should fail. A cheap GPU is currently not an option nor does he want to buy one at the moment.

Get a 30 bucks pci-e gpu. It out performs almost all of these igpu's. Problem solved. Don't try to overclock the igpu. It's worthless.

That's not the point of my post.

If hes been using it that long with games (*throws up in the background*), then he should be fine with what he gas. You aren't going to get much more out of an iGPU. They're simply not made to game on at all. They're made for spreadsheets and Facebook, not gaming.

I'm aware of that but you're ignoring my point. Hes going to use it for Diablo 3 regardless if its good enough or not.

Then just use it as it is! Don't push something harder for it to provide the same performance! If you're not willing to spend $30, you won't get anything better.

Again your ignoring the entire point of my post. I was looking to push a few extra MHz out of the chip regardless of your opinion. I only asked for advice on how to go about it.i did not ask for buying advice and no matter how many times I've said that you keep telling me to buy a dedicated GPU. If your not going to give me the information I asked for then why even bother commenting?

I completely understand buying a cheep dedicated GPU would be a much better option but I'm choosing to overclock because I can not because it's the best option.

I don't know how to do it, but I wouldn't if I were you. Keep in mind that the CPU has to be cooled, so the cooler the better. I know you don't want to hear it, but a cheap GPU is way better than an iGPU.
