Forgot to mention, my PC has a 4790 non k, R9 Fury X and 16gb ddr3 1600mhz. Can it handle 144hz 1080p and 90hz 1440p?

Just found this

- Refresh Rate: 60Hz
- Horizontal sync 30 - 90 KHz
- Vertical sync 50 - 75 Hz

For the 1440p panel. What does it mean?:PIs it 60hz or 90hz?

Your PC is probably more geared for 1440P than you think - 4790 non isn't an issue - the lower speed puts it slight better placed for 1440P, but it's still a great chip. Fury X  - HBM - memory that performs better at higher resolutions. Remember you can always drop detail settings if FPS starts to plummet - but a 1070/980ti are great for 1440P and a Fury X is aimed at that bracket

Thanks for the great answer. Would you say that the 1440p panel being TN might ruin my experience? The 1080p panel is quantum dot and I've seen quantum dot TVs. I know that they'll probably be very different, but I noticed that the blacks were very deep and colours were rich yet natural. Can't speak for the 1440p panel though.

TN isn't bad, but if you really want a beautiful display, then go with the Quantum dot screen.

I'm using a TN 1440P, but it's a high end Asus RoG Swift and at 100hz + most games the performance is great. It depends how much you wanna spend, but if you're on a budget you cant really stress about colour quality, go for freesync, its a great experience, + high refresh is the business and pixel quality is going up as well, I moved from a 1080P IPS to my current panel, I did notice the difference, but after a couple of days, I didn't notice any more

Will I get 144 FPS at high/ ultra settings consistently at 1080p though?

My budget is under 300 pounds. I guess in terms of colours, the samsung is best. So in short you're saying that the amount of pixels on the 1440p panel would help level out the fatc that it's TN

The level of detail 1440P provides out weighs IPS colour representation - But this is my opinion based on my experience - Keep in mind I'm using a £680 Asus RoG swift 27 1440P Panel wiuth gsync

Your opinion maybe completely different

Thanks. Going back to soemthing I said previously, the specs for the 1440p monitor go like this-

- Refresh Rate: 60Hz
- Horizontal sync 30 - 90 KHz
- Vertical sync 50 - 75 Hz

For the 1440p panel. What does it mean?:PIs it 60hz or 90hz?

Does this mean 90hz or 60hz? Also if I were to get 1080p panel. Would I get 144 FPS at high/ ultra settings in AAA consistently? Also same question for the 1440p panel, just with 90fps instead and medium/ high settings

144hz is really hard to get in a lot of new AAA games without a lot of serious hardware + that and the fact you're 4790 is locked, doesn't really help as 1080P needs really high IPC and speed making the 7700k @ 5.1ghz pretty much king for 1080P gaming at the moment

I've had a little look around and found some others

HOWEVER

I think this is a beauty, a little over budget but, freesync, 1440P and 144hz and its £317

I've actually just watched one, its great panel provided you're head on or within 40 degree viewing angle - its a gaming monitor - you should be lol. If I was buying a freesync 1440P panel for ~ £300 I would put my money on this. The Dell will be a better quality panel for sure, but no freesync and not high refresh, a 144hz freesync screen is something you can grow your system into, albeit with AMD cards to keep adapt v sync, but with RX5XX series inc and beyond that shouldn't be an issue, hell you could even take shares in N Power and crossfire another Fury X !

You don't need to worry about getting 144hz, its why you're getting freesync.

You will be fine for some top settings in a lot of games, Watch Dogs 2 will cause you issues, but that's down to poor optimization

True. Yes watch dogs is a mess on PC. I'll probably buy the 1440p panel if I can stretch my budget a little

I would suggest 24", just because 27" is awkward unless you are a significant distance from the screen. You have to turn your head to see stuff on the edges.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!
