Sup Techies!

So basicly I want to buy a PCI based SSD... (The Raidr Express from Asus)
And I'm wondering how I may best utilize that and my current setup.

I have a 256gb SSD (vertex 4) as a boot drive, and a 1TB WD Green as a data/storage drive.

For a new PC I want to add that secondary SSD, but I'm not planning on doing raid, so I thought I would get the Raidr.

I was then thinking, which would be the better option you think and why? (For your usage).

1. Raidr Express as boot drive, Vertex 4 seperate for other stuff.

2. Vertex 4 as boot drive and Raidr Express seperate for other stuff.

3. Get a second Vertex 4/other SSD instead of Raidr Express and go Raid 0 for boot drive (512gb).

4. None of the above / other.

I do want more SSD space as I'm currently filling my own 256gb with OS, programs and games.

I like having my games on my SSD, but I do not want to sacrice my smaller utilities and programs for games...

I chose the Raidr over other PCI based options, mainly because of the feature set, I trust ASUS for making quality components and looks.
If you do know another PCI based SSD I would like to know though :)

So yeah, I need more SSD space, else I would not be posting this.

And if Raid 0 Isn't worth it, what is?

Don't buy the Raidr if your motherboard has a Sata 6GBit/s connection. It is just wasted money.

I'm planning to do this in a whole new build, so my MB at that time WILL have 6GBit/s connectors... I'm just intrigued by this type of SSD, not sure if it is at all worth almost double the price (proberly not)... Might just get a 512gb ssd instead... Hmm.. What would you guys choose to do? / What are you running / what would you want to change about your setup?

I'd suggest get a 840 evo. Its not the fastest in the world, but it performs decently, and actually caches most frequently used data to get to that 500MB/s read, which is most important for loading times of games or applications.

price to performance wise, it really is the best ssd you can get.

Actually, I might be swifting oppinion of the EVO, because of Linus obviously :D

After his video that was just uploaded today funny enough, about the EVO, I did kinda look at the prices and.. huh, so the raidr is half the storage... But same price as a 512gb EVO, yeaahhh no.. Not getting a raidr anymore... Lol... Also, anontech calmed my "nerves" in regards to life cycle, I might give this a shot... Time will tell though, depends on the storage market in 6 months...

Thanks @LinusTech!
