I have set up a build that I will be using to play lots of games at 1080p at max settings, recording gameplay, and editing it all on this machine. I spent 70% of my build $$ on the GPU because it will get me amazing performance in games and it allows me to render with cuda in Sony Vegas and AE CC/CS6.

Get a different PSU. Like a Corsair.

Minimum 600w psu for 780 according to manufacturer. I believe Linus said you could get away with less, but... Could you bump up and get a cheaper 8 core perhaps?

I made bad mistakes cheaping out on my PCs foundation. Your eveyday usage will be much more enjoyable with a faster CPU, SSD, and solid mobo. I know it's hard to maybe disregard the 780, but maybe R9 280X...and a 750w psu for future Crossfire. *fingers crossed*

That build is still ridiculous, I know the gpu is the where most money is spent in a gaming machine but this is just ridiculous

well it's completely imbalanced and a 780 is overkill for 1080p gaming

780 is not overkill. It won't max out Crysis 3 at 1080p. And games are getting better. Be prepared to lower settings.

Looks good!

But to be honest I was planning to take the 780 out of the build a bit later and put it in my i7 build once I save up more.

just wait until you can afford to buy all the parts you want or you will be wasting your money, listen to what everyone is telling you
