PC requires CMOS reset to turn on

So, the power plug was accidentally pulled while it was on and now it doesn't shut down normally, have to hold down the power button for it to happen. Anyways this was going on for about a week and now it didn't turn on and so i did a CMOS reset and everything works wonders. This has happened twice and is rather annoying. Suggestions?
