Hello everyone
I am currently trying to upgrade my system i currently have a I5 4690 on a asus z97 mark 2 and a zotac geforce 770. Iv been trying to determine what would be best to upgrade but my head is starting to spin; considering this is my first time doing anything to this computer or any computer for that matter. Now i'm most interested in trying to run ARK better and while playing i checked GPUZ and resource monitor. and my GPU is definitely bottle-necking even on medium setting but i also keep noticing that my memory spikes on the cpu causing lag. SO my dilemma is that when I upgrade my GPU then my cpu will than bottle neck so the question is what to upgrade my CPU to after i upgrade my GPU. I wish i could figure it out myself but i cant seem to get my head around all the number and the never ending list of cores from intel. I am open to any and all discussion and ideas

P.s. am i thinking about the memory correctly is it the memomry on the chip or my actual ram

I'd say that getting an Rx 480 would be a good upgrade and you wouldn't run into too many bottlenecks, bar Cities Skyline, ect

upgrade your gpu, no matter what you do some component will be the slowest point in your machine, even a 7700k can limit a 1080ti and vice versa. As for what you should look to upgrade next, cpu to 4790k if you don't want to deal with replacing the mobo, just make sure your cooler can handle it.
