Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device

Hi everyone,

 

I recently finished doing a backup with my Windows 7 PC on a 2TB WD My Passport Ultra and when I clicked "eject my passport" it say - "Windows can't stop your 'Generic volume' device because a program is still using it. Close any program that might be using the device, and then try again later." I looked through my task manager and resource monitor an saw nothing the drive could be using. Any ideas? I don't want to break or corrupt my drive.

Turn your pc on and off and try again. Sometimes something is using your usb but really isnt

Should i eject my external hdd when its off then plug it back in when its fully booted?

Unplug it and dont replug
