A few quick questions

Attis

Hi all,

I have a few questions that I would like to ask.

1. Should i download freesync from amd? http://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/technologies-gaming/freesync?utm_campaign=www.amd.com_freesync&utm_medium=redirect&utm_source=301

2. Should I get radeon chill, I know it reduces the gpu temperature while you are still(not moving) but does it reduce the gpu performance while active or does it increase framerates while gaming or is it the same?

Thanks!

1) you dont download freesync, its a setting in the radeon drivers. which you should download if you want your card to work properly. (your monitor also needs to support it)

2) no need for it honestly, use something like msi afterburner with a custom fan curve.

PC - CPU Ryzen 5 1600 - GPU Power Color Radeon 5700XT- Motherboard Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming - RAM 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB - Storage 525GB Crucial MX300 SSD + 120GB Kingston SSD   PSU Corsair CX750M - Cooling Stock - Case White NZXT S340

Peripherals - Mouse Logitech G502 Wireless - Keyboard Logitech G915 TKL  Headset Razer Kraken Pro V2's - Displays 2x Acer 24" GF246(1080p, 75hz, Freesync) Steering Wheel & Pedals Logitech G29 & Shifter

Ok, thanks guys

One last thing.

Up to 3% impact to average Frames Per Second while recording in World of Warcraft with Radeon ReLive ON vs. OFF1

Up to 3% impact to average Frames Per Second while recording in Overwatch® with Radeon ReLive ON vs. OFF2

Up to 3% impact to average Frames Per Second while recording in H1Z1: King of the Kill with Radeon ReLive ON vs. OFF3

Up to 4% impact to average Frames Per Second while recording in Battlefield 1 with Radeon ReLive ON vs. OFF4

Does this mean you reduce performance lost while recording?

Yes, but you lose a bit of performance in most cases when recording.

Then you probably aren't. In which case FreeSync will not work. It only works on supported monitors.

screen tearing happens when parts of two frames are displayed at the same time. sometimes it quite noticeable and sometimes not. here are some examples.

the pictures are not the same and the graphics look different ( and better ) on the AMD card.

you're using more system ram and more cpu with the 480. or am I seeing that wrong.

which is something I noticed once before when I went from a 2gig card to a 4gig card. ... maybe somebody can explain that.
