Recreate CPU Overheat error

I know this is going to seem like a weird question... no I don't want to kill my hardware but hear me out!

 

My 4770K runs very hot on the stock cooler with my mild +50 MHz OC (3.95GHz right now, the 4.2 in my sig is not a daily OC as it throttles). It hits 100 C while stress testing using Intel XTU. One day, when I came home from school, my PC was off. It's usually asleep. When I turned it on, I got some error saying something about CPU overheat and then got the American Megatrends screen. Is there any way to recreate this error? My dad thinks I want a new CPU cooler to game on (he doesn't like me playing video games too much lol) and thinks I made up the error.

 

TL;DR How can I recreate the CPU overheat startup error without breaking my mobo/CPU/other part(s)?

I guess you could do the same exact things to it you did the day it happened. Maybe the fans stopped working but weren't dead? Certainly wouldn't be the first time I've seen that. Unless, of course, some form of environmental issue caused it.

IDK why it happened the first time, wasn't home when it shut down. I know I got the same error once before when a cable got caught in the CPU fan, would that be safe to replicate? Maybe let the PC idle on desktop with heatsink unplugged, then wait for it to crash?

When replicating the fan cable thing, don't stop the fan. You can damage it like that. Rather unplug it.

Lol this is OT but, you game on a rig without a dedicated GPU or is your dad kinda "uneducated" in this field? :D

No he is perfectly educated but I dont really need a dGPU for Overwatch lol
