I recently built a computer with a msi GeForce GTX 1060 on the gigabyte ga b85 D3H and intel i7 4790k with 16gb of DDR3 Kingston hyperX savage ram and axiom memory hard drive 750gb 7500rpm and the CPU is unlocked but the motherboard isn't, any suggestions on what to upgrade to or if I should

You have it backwards, Your CPU is unlocked, but you have a motherboard whos Chipset does not support overclocking. You would need a Z87 or Z97 motherboard to be able to overclock the chip.

Either the motherboard or the hard drive. As in add a ssd in addtion to the hard drive.

The SSD is the BEST upgrade you can make, but you will have to format your pc in order to install your Os in there, for the best results possible, also you can install the most frequently used programs in there, boot times are ridiculous. Other than that, overclocking Motherboard and rgbing the shit out of your rig  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
