its been about 5 years since iv built/upgraded my current rig. I'm going to buy all brand new parts for a new rig. I'll be gaming primarily with some movie/stream watching. I want a duel monitor setup. I wanted to know if $1200(USD) range is good to stay around or would it be better to save up a little more and possibly get the next tier (GPU,CPU,etc). My resolution will be 1080p. This price does not include any peripherals or monitors just the pc components.

$1200 is a good spot for 1080p. $1400 is best IMO.
Do you need an OS and are you salvaging anything from the old one? Case, HDDs, ect

Less GPU power than @deXxterlab97's, but nicer parts otherwise. A 1070 is plenty for 1080p anyway
