My computer was built last December, and there is a plan to slowly add more components into it. With the RX480 already installed (budget constraints prevent Nvidia GPU considerations), I currently have a plan to add a workstation GPU intended for production roles (3D modeling, 2D art, game engines, etc.), while the RX480 would handle both regular games and games under development. As noted from the signature, the forethought for game development is what convinced me to choose the Intel i7 6700 and 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) RAM.

The current workstation GPU being considered is the WX5100.

I would like to have input in regards to this approach. And there are other notes spoiler'd for size:

Notes:

  • Both GPUs would be accessed in either Windows OS or Linux Server OS.
  • I'll have to figure out on how I'll have the programs use which GPU on my own.
  • Only 1 23" monitor with 1 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort.
  • 650W PSU with UPS.
  • Prices are worth considering.
