I apologize if this is the wrong thread to be posting this and I don't even know if it's possible. As an aspiring tech it is always a goal of mine to learn, may it be hardware or software. I have found eBay and garage sales as great resources for finding hardware to set up different projects. My current computer is a $25 dollar computer not very impressive with the newest part being evga geforce 9400 gt. That's besides the fact though. I was looking for help on the software side of things. I was wondering if anyone knew of a pre-broken Windows virtual machine with issues that Windows faces. If it could generate the issues somehow that would be preferable. I have used programs such as testout.com in the past which is great but the problems are too easy there. Anyways if anyone knows or could help or point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.

I don't think Troubleshooting was the best place to put this... That's fine though :) Welcome to LTT.

I think the best way you could reproduce the results of a broken Windows installation is to literally break it.  Doing things like installing malware, and adware of websites like download.com which are renowed for adware and advertisements.  And by deleting critical system files, perhaps corrupting files and causing BSODs.

But the real truth of the matter is that the best way to learn how to fix something is not to suddenly face a broken version of it.  While it can work in certain cases, more often than not you will fix it incorrectly.  The best thing to do is to instead learn about the operating system.

Microsoft actually already offers certifications for Windows.  And the tech repair guy business is going a bit out now.  But Microsoft Certifications like MCSA and above and below all can prove you know about Microsoft Products and software. Stuff like System administration is included in these certifications for example.

I highly recommend getting these.  But I beileve I've already given you my opinion on how to recreate a broken installation. None the less good luck, and I hope you make it.  If you are interested in Microsoft Certifications you can look them up and check them out, or go to your nearest IT training center and ask them about it.
