So, after 3 years my first desktop build has died a painful and confusing death.  Just stopped, no warning, no noise, only silence.  Going down to the bare bones MOBO and I think it's the culprit, mainly because I removed the RAM and it's not complaining.  Like plugging my PSU into a graveyard.

I've been out of the hardware loop for...quite a while.  I'm not really wanting to spend over $200 on a new MOBO and want to branch out from Gigabyte for my next victi...companion.

Just an i5 with 1150 socket CPU requirement.  I have an 850 W EVGA PSU so power shouldn't matter (850 IS overkill for my build buuuut that's another discussion).

So yeah, I'd love to hear ya'lls suggestions on new boards!

Also, if anyone is feeling particularly helpful I was also going to buy a new case "Cooler Master HAF" unless anyone wants to toss out a reasonable reason for objection.  (Maybe it bleats out obscenities or thinks we faked the moon landing, idk)  Also, perhaps a new CPU cooler suggestion would be nice...I swear I won't ask anyone to put the think together for me :) .

Do you have a K-series i5?

Any of these should work. Get a Z-series board if you have a K CPU.

For non K CPUs, get a Cryorig M9i for a quiet and cool setup.

For a K CPU get the Cryorig H5 or R1 Ultimate or Dark Rock Pro 3

Ohh maaaan!  Thanks mate!  Yes, it's a K type.  I never planed to OC but didn't want to be locked out of the option.
