Go into disc management. You will find them there if they are recognized by your system. They will be in a black outline in the graphical output down below. Right click on it and format the drives for them to be picked up and accessible for use.

Hey there! To assign a drive letter to these drives, you need to open up Disk Management, and do it from there.

  • Press WINDOWS + R on your keyboard
  • Type in "diskmgmt.msc" and press ENTER
  • Right click on the drive/partition you need to work with
  • Assign a drive letter / delete partitions / format drives

If your drives don't show up as usable, attach a screenshot if you can and I'll try to help.

If they don't show up at all, you may need to force Windows to detect them in Device Manager.

See the bottom picture with the graphical portion, there is a scroll bar to the right. Below that is where you will find the ones I mentioned. Once you find them, then you will be able to format them.

The two drives you're talking about are 2TB models, I presume?

If so, can you right click on the 1862.70 GB partitions and choose "Assign Drive Letter" ?

If not, what did they come out of, and does the data on them need to be accessed or can they be wiped completely clean?

They come out an old IMac and the data can be deleted.

Okay it worked. It shows them in my computer. But now they are both 126MB instead of around 2 TB. Why?

Since they were old drives, you likely will need to wipe them. Try using this guide to help you with that.

You'll need to wipe them if they came out of a Mac since their filesystem formatting will be HFS or HFS+ and not FAT32 or NTFS.

You can do this by right clicking on ALL of the blue partitions on each drive, and choosing delete.

Then right click on the black partitions (unallocated space) and create a new partition using NTFS as the filesystem.

If this doesn't work, let me know, and I'll have to walk you through some more advanced and careful command line based steps.
