Quick question I have a USB from when I got my windows on my computer (The one that comes in a little box with a card in it with the key) is it ok to use that USB to load windows on another computer temporarily. I just need to make sure the computer runs properly.

You can run an unactivated Windows by skipping the product key when asked and doing regular install.

If you just need to check functionality you could use something like a live version of Ubuntu (or another distro). Save time installing stuff.

 

Unless you have a specific need to check w/ Windows.

I was trying to download ubuntu originally but after I click try ubuntu or install it brings me to a gray screen, sits there for a second then it stops transmitting an image to my screen
