Computer shuts down Randomly

KrandeKraft

Hello guys,

since about 3 days my computer just shuts down instantly and turns on again by itself.

I already chaged the Powersupply but the problem is still there.

This Pc is now about 6 months old.

In the eventlog there is the following Error: Kernel-Power. aparrently this is already happening since December but I didnt noticed it.

Any Ideas?

Does it happen just in idle, or under certain workload? Did you overclock?

You could try a different/stronger PSU and hope for the best.

All the temps are never over 50 degrees.

This happend mostly during ideling or watching videos.

The PSU should be enough with 750 watts.

The system isnt overclocked (yet).

My Specs:

GTX 1070

Skylake i7-6700K

16 GB DDR4 RAM

1TB SSD from Samsung

512 GB M.2 SSD from Samsung (950)

MSI Krait gaming Mainboard

The system is run in 4K.

Alright well just letting you know the kernel power error is a result of the shut down and is not going to help identify the problem all it means is that the computer shutdown or restarted without the proper shutdown process

i7-6700k | Cooler Master 212x | ASUS ROG Strix 1080 | 16 gigs Avexir Raiden Green RAM (because plasma tubes always improve performance) | ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA | Phanteks Enthoo Primo SE Green

Download Intel Power Gadget and try to log one of these events it might be useful to see what the power draw on the cpu is I'm suspecting its either a bad CPU or MOBO because from what you described there's pretty much nothing else it could be.

So many users Windows with such a problem.

-When playing games, your computer cpu is used much more..
-Graphics cards are used much more..
-They create more heat..
-Some laptops and indeed computers can overheat..
-There is a failsafe.
-If a computer getsd over the pre-configured temperature, the computer restarts or shuts down.

This is probably the issue you are coming across.

Im 99% sure that the tempratures are not the problem,

The Failsafe happens around 90 degrees, im not even near it.

And another point that speaks against it is that the time between the shutdown stays the "same" (maybe a few minutes diffrence)

Maybe RAM failures ... but not sure. They normally show a blue screen. All internal connecters still plugged in correctly?

Well thats a point, maybe a connector is loose! I will check it as soon as possible.

The Intel Power Gadget is logging now, lets see whats going to happen.

I noticed that it doesnt seem to happend if the system is in the login screen even after a long time, so its maybe kind of affected by load.

So guys, turns out It actually was the Power Cables. I reconnected all of them and now all seems to work well.

Its nice of so many people helping but I realised how fast a lot of people here give up an go on. :(

Sometimes you would maybe learn a lot yourself by trying to find the Problem.;)

Its nothing against you its just a thing that would be nice!

I appreciate your help! :D

I hope my English was kind of good. o.O
