HDD in deathbed ?

Go to solution Solved by TheProfosist,

Unfortunatly this IS my new PC, and the other one i have doesn't have much storage space left to backup my stuff on through network, this is what killed me about this HDD part, it's brand new but it's kneen not to last more than what my previous Maxtor warrior drive has achieved (more than 4 full years), it's a Toshiba, i'm considering getting Seagate or Western Digital to replace it as they happen to be generally more reliable (even though DAO are inevitable).

Toshiba 3.5in HDD are now made by Hitachi for the most part as WD tried to buy them bu they would have had too much control of the 3.5in market so they kept the 2.5in and sold the 3.5 to toshiba. I would take a look at the seagate sv35 if your in the market for a new 3.5in HDD.

nop but if that increases each day i would change drive asap this is my hdd that i use for recording raw videos.

When this happened to one of my harddrives I replaced it asap. It probably had more life left in it, but if it is reallocating stuff, it means there is problems. Just google "reallocated sector count". If the data isn't of great importance it might not be an issue for you, but to me all my data is important, so I replaced my drive.

After a week...

So, should i replace it as soon as possible ?!

I'm already considering getting an external harddrive for future backups, and even an SSD for my OS, down times are quite frustrating. -_-

(What's even more frustrating is losing actual equipement that costs money, fontunatly there's a solid warranty backing me up on this)

i would definitely replace that and i would keep it powered off until you got replacement drive to copy your data

It shouldn't be a bad idea, in fact i'm targeting a Seagate or a WD for my next purchase, these will potentially be more durable. ;-)

Yea they have a great price to size and great performance for the current HDDs you also get a slightly longer warranty and 24/7 reliability due to them being entry level enterprise drives.
