Hi guys, im thinking its time to upgrade my gpu due to my recent upgrade of my monitor. I recently brought a 34inch ultra wide, Acer XR342CK which is overclocked to 100hz and uses AMD freesync.  My current specs are:

- i7 6800k (4.3 GHz)

- Be quiet! Slient loop 240mm

- MSI x99a sli plus motherboard

- 2*8GB Corsair lpx memory (2666 MHz)

- Sapphire R9 390

- Evga 750w psu

- 120 GB ssd

- 2tb WD Black hard drive.

Im a youtube editor/ part time gamer, hence the specs of my rig. Unfortunatly due to contract reasons, i cant say who i work for. Back to the matter at hand, i have an open budget (i.e no restrictions) and i would prefer to use a powerful gpu due to future proofing reasons. I was thinking of getting a gtx 1080ti but only when 3rd party board partners release theirs. Also is it worth waiting for Vega in the summer to take full use of freesync.

I would love to have your guys feedback.

Many thanks

DBG

Honestly, Video editing is more a CPU task, which the 6800k handles. The GPU would really only help in limited aspects and in gaming. Since there is no real difference between the 1080TI and the Titan X(P) in terms of gaming performance, Cuda cores etc... You should go with the 1080TI since it is 500$ cheaper.

1. If you think the performance dipped on your new monitor because of resolution, etc,, and needed to do an upgrade ASAP, go for 1080ti.

2. If you can wait for Vega, wait for it. Its an advantage when using freesync and may have new features or a better performance compared to the Ti, (AMD is also known for better pricing so it could also be a factor when you take price:performance in consideration). :D

I was using a 4k monitor before which was an Acer CB241HQK and was running games suprising at 60fps like gta V and battlefield 1 etc... on medium to high settings as my R9 390 is overclocked at 1250MHz which is unheard of with no thermal frotterling. I may of hit it big on the silcon lottery. The reason for the upgrade is to reduce power consuption as my rig currently uses 700 watts and like i said for future proofing.

Ps: Thx for the comments so far
