Setting up a computer for a friend, he will primarily be recording BF3/BF4. We want to keep it Nvidia, main issues we are just not sure its all compatible. According to pcpartpicker it is, but better safe then sorry ;D

Feedback would be good.

Reduce PSU to save some $$ (or stick with it for futureproof)

Get 780 3GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130942

Hope he has another Drive for games.  Win= 30-50GB,  BF3 =20GB, BF4 =? probably greater than 30GB.

need more $, skip that cheesy liquid cooler, and just use stock for a little bit, and save up for better cooler like h100i and OC up to %20.

BTW, test have started to show faster memory = better performance in BF4... what... %20 boost between 1600 and 2400?  somebody correct me plz

I guess get it wherever cheaper.  Or buy the 4770K from me!  I have two brand new in box! (not kidding, they were gifts, but i'm selling them for the a better single cpu)

I have 680 4GB, it just barely skims BF3 maxed at 1080... 770 is only a bit faster, add streaming, it's going run like me 680 lol.  Then have to jump to sli to get more.  Of course, can always cut the graphics...

cut $50 for the cheap liquid cooler (which would probably going get him %10 oc boost of nothingness ... vs almost %20 boost in graphics perf.)

cut another $20 for 750W http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-rm750 - good enough to sli a 780.

I guess my only other suggestion for inexpensive but good performing cooler is the Cooler Master Hyper TX3.  I've used this one (well the rocketfish version of it) on a Q6600 and prime95 at ~60c vs over 80c stock, with the fan still at it's lowest. Under $20.

like @cjeffcoatjr said... you need to give a budget as well as criterias

[rant]

I did not find the stock cooler loud at all even with my 2600K @ 4.2Ghz for over a year folding, I kept it on because I was surprised how well it performed.  The graphics card fan is a LOT louder.  I have the Galaxy 680 GC and it's quiet till I push it in games... but by then who cares when machine guns and bombs going off.  AMD and their wafer thin fan on stock cooler is whinny loud  .  Got my Xeon 1230v2 folding 24/7 on stock cooler and all I hear is some wind noise, and the hard drives.  btw, not putting computer on table next to one's head helps.

Little point getting an i7 for gaming.

The H55 is not that good of a cooler. There are better coolers for the price.

Why not AMD? You can get more cores, vram, and wider memory bandwidth for gaming.

Any particular reason you're going for a full tower?

Psu is overkill. A decent 550w will be plenty for a 770. 750w will do for sli.

I see no reason why you'd need Windows ultimate....

Where are you shopping/located? Budget?
