Is AMD A-series workable?

I wan't to know that is even A-series chipset even usable for any build, and what differentiating features does it have that normal FX or Athlon processors.

You're talking about A320 chipset right? Less PCIe lanes but it's still okay for lightweight usage.

Even I have been confused with soo many different names I see, I'm talking about A10, A9, etc.

A10, A8, A6, A4 prefix? Those are APUs.

Since Raven Ridge is not yet on the market, bascially all the APUs you can get are based on our dear Bulldozer architecture.

If you wanna get one, purchase the newest Bristol Ridge lineup. Still based on Bulldozer but quite improved.

No problem for everyday usage but still CPU performance is usually bit lower than Intel i3.

For emulation and older games they can be decent. However in most cases and especially for modern games the igpu isn't fast enough and the cpu part is also very weak. Also even worse they are on an outdated and dead socket.
