Is AMD A-series workable?

You're talking about A320 chipset right? Less PCIe lanes but it's still okay for lightweight usage.

Even I have been confused with soo many different names I see, I'm talking about A10, A9, etc.

A10, A8, A6, A4 prefix? Those are APUs.

Since Raven Ridge is not yet on the market, bascially all the APUs you can get are based on our dear Bulldozer architecture.

If you wanna get one, purchase the newest Bristol Ridge lineup. Still based on Bulldozer but quite improved.

No problem for everyday usage but still CPU performance is usually bit lower than Intel i3.
