Surely Sony cant expect professionals to use tape to mount a microphone to their cameras, rather than using the built in system for mounting which doesnt work without some kind of adapter

What you officially need is a microphone spacer.  They can cost somewhere between $10-20, each.  Otherwise just wrap something around your mic to make the diameter thicker.  I've used some wide elastic bands or gaff tape as temporary solutions when I misplace the spacers.

The spacer is not usually part of the kit.

Hi there

I have a Sony PXW Z-150, and am trying to mount a Sennheiser MKE 600 microphone to it with the built in microphone mount in the camera

However, the microphone is very loose, and not tightly secured

Is there a peice missing from the camera?

The were no things included with the camera that seem correct

Thanks for the help

I've seen images of a lot of setups. And a lot of people do just use tape or stuff like that to hold their mic in place. Search on Sonys website on how it should be done but I would use use tape instead of dropping money on an adapter or something, at least for now as it will temporarly fix the problem.

The objective of having a mic holder clamp is so that one can mount the mic when needed and not have the mic when not needed.  And be quick with mounting and unmounting the mic.

CVP, B&H, Amazon, eBay, check online.  I have no idea where you live.
