Finding external files

[Pythons]

Hey,
Is there code that searches for external .json files, so that when I run the code, it will return True if the file is found, and False if it isn't in target folder?

This will be coded in python.

for root, dirs, files in os.walk("/mydir"):
    for file in files:
        if file.endswith(".json"):
             return true

this will return true on the first .json found, any other will be ignored.
