so my pc had a few bugs and I wanted to reset it, its custom built, I build it in dec. I had a bunch of problems resetting it (now day 3) and now it is just on a page where it says reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key but like non of my peripherals are working, not keyboard, mouse, anything that was plugged in, did it short circuit? hope not, im broke rn, but I cant use keyboard or anything, but if I plug in something else it works

Okkk...

Google your motherboard model and 'reset cmos'

For example i would type

"asrock z97 anniversary how to reset CMOS"

Did you check the BIOS/UEFI settings?  If you reset your BIOS or CMOS, you may need to change some settings to match what they were before.  IE: AHCI, Legacy, RAID, etc.

that's the problem, I cant fucking acces anything! my keyboard, mouse, everything is fucking off and my pc is on.

I wonder if you troll us here !!!

How did you do to post this message if " I cant fucking acces anything! ".  You sound like a joke here !!

Simple rules:

- If it works, dont update it.

- You don't know how, just do it, you will learn.

- Test, restest, test again, and maybe it will do it.

SO, look on your laptop how to reset the bios of the broken PC !!!

The info your looking are the schematics for the motherboard to find the JBAT1 jumper, and HOWTO to proceed, and common good sense.

Verify what ports your peripherals are connected to.  Many mainboards have limitations at BIOS or OS installation to only specific ports.  For USB, they most commonly are the ones under the Network port for desktops, or closest to the external video port for laptops.  This is not always followed, but may help in identifying working ports.

Google "jbat1 jumper". Go to Images if you need visual clarification.

You would get faster answers by just typing "cmos" on Google search rather than asking "what is cmos" here.

Don't settle for being spoonfed step by step instructions. Learn how to diagnose and research on your own. We would still help you out but don't ask to be spoonfed.

**

Try to unplug every peripheral except the keyboard and see if it'll respond. If not, try using another USB port.

OK, i take your hand:

type in the ggole searech box:  "HERE" the name and model of the mother board.

you will land on the manufactor site.

THEN

search for the "USER GUIDE" ... in english, not japanese.

THEN

read it, serach troubleshooting, find clear cmos.

THEN

look at the scheamtic, find the good jumper for clearing the cmos

THEN

...

I cant do more to be pleasant here.

Simple rules:

- If it works, dont update it.

- You don't know how, just do it, you will learn.

- Test, restest, test again, and maybe it will do it.

usually the cmos is cleared by removing the onboard battery, if you don't have that you may need to make a short in which case i suggest you check the internet on how to do that. Also I don't think it's a bios issue, I've also had this on my asus mobo and I just played around with it until it started working again. After a BIOS update I haven't had this issue again. Try unplugging everything and see if the pc will boot to BIOS at least. If that works than start plugging stuff back in one by one to eliminate the unknown variable.

ENsure that you're Keyboard and mouse are plugged into USB2.0 ports ONLY

not any of the USB3.0. Your motherboard should have at least one of these right next to it's keyboard PS/2 port
