1070 Triple Monitor Setup Help

Gborohoo

I have a Galax GTX 1070 HOF edition with 3xDisplayPort 1.4, 1xHDMI, and 1x(DVI?). I am upgrading to 3 22 inch 1920x1080 monitors, and have a few questions:

1) Since the monitors I'm using only have DVI inputs, will I be able to use all 3 DisplayPort ports on the GPU and use a DisplayPort to DVI-D cable for all three monitors?

2) Will I need to use Nvidia Surround to setup the monitors? I have read the compatible graphics cards on the Surround download page and the 1070 is not there (along with the 1080). So will Nvidia Surround work?

Thanks!

  1. Yep, you can. I personally use this cable for one of my monitors.
  2. Nope, you don't have to use surround to set up the monitors, but you can.

Nvidia Surround will work with any green GPU since the 6000-series IIRC. The adapters should work just fine since they aren't unidirectional.

I would suggest you pick up working with INI files just in case Surround isn't working in the program. Display Fusion is another favorite of mine for multi-monitor shortcuts and utilities.

NV Surround worked since the GTX 500 series (needed 2 in SLI, except for one very special model by galaxy)

with the GTX 600 series it was possible to do surround on a single card
