Swift Not on Mac?

I think I am misinformed but is Swift the only language you can use to create apps for IOS? If so is there any way without having a mac? I have a mac to do it but it is sorta slow.

There are pros and cons, and open development just happens to be one of the cons. On the other hand, Microsoft seems to be finally opening everything up, which is great for developers on all platforms.

Objective-C used the same tool for building GUIs as Swift and IMO is by far the best GUI designer for any language/platform, even before the Swift era.

Swift is supposedly easier for coding, but as i said i havent had time to look into it. Do people actually use the graphical designer? I get pretty pictures from the graphic designer they made in photoshop and just write it in XML for android. One day the graphic designer will be either trained to do that themselves or the tools won't require me to go into the code

No im an android developer who doesn't have time for iOS even though Iv been planning for it for almost 12 months now. You and everyone else I have ever met has an idea for an app. I always respond with give me an investment prospectus or an employment contract if you want to be taken seriously. One piece of advice a local start up group I follow on facebook gets at least one request a month for someone to do all the programming in exchange for shares that are not worth anything, and they always get trolled.

Swift is an open source language, it means you can run it on most of the popular platforms. You don't need a mac for the basic functionality. You will, however, need one if you want to use Apple-specific tools and export it on the device itself. For Swift basics, it's fine.

Objective-C is another language used for iOS development, but it's known to be more difficult and troublesome than Swift.

There is a framework called Xamarin, using which you can create apps for iOS as well as Android and WP, using the C# language.
