Well nothing you described sounds like failing ram. In my experience, RAM works fine until one day, it doesnt work at all and the system either crashes repeatedly or doesnt boot.

Hi LTT Forums,

I haven't posted in a while but I'm back and in need of help/advice. My PC has been running into some issues I'll explain shortly, I think it's related to my RAM but I'm not 100% sure. When I built my PC I purchased 1 kit of Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM (Can be found here: http://www.corsair.com/en-eu/vengeance-pro-series-8gb-2-x-4gb-ddr3-dram-2133mhz-c9-memory-kit-cmy8gx3m2b2133c9r). The rest of my specs can be found in my signature down below.

Recently my PC became significantly slower, it became so slow that I couldn't get more then 3 fps in ANY game. It was very weird but I eventually fixed the issue my resetting my MOBO's settings. I also had an issue where my memory issue would be stuck at 99%, even though I had ended all tasks and was looking at my desktop, when using Task Manager and sorting the programs on most memory used the highest usage would be really low (like a few MB's). This would fix itself by rebooting the PC.

A few days ago I noticed a performance tank in games again. For example, I was running BF1 without any performance dips on medium settings a week ago, now I constantly have framerate dips for no reason. My game keeps freezing at random times, even though it wouldn't freeze at all when I just purchased the game.

I am unsure what my problem is, something is failing and I don't know what.

Please help me!

It may be that you don't have enough RAM, 8gb is a bit on the low end as far as modern systems go.

But what is the issue with RAM usage going to 99% while literally nothing is running? Where does that come from?

That is likely a windows 10 bug/ feature that has been a happening to a lot of people. It seems to me that the issue is caused by windows dedicating non used ram to caching without reporting it as such.

Ah, interesting. Thanks for your help. I'll order some new RAM sticks. Should I buy another set of my current RAM or just buy a whole new set all together.

You can buy any set of matching ram (same ddr speed, timing, size etc).
