USB OTG

So I have a LG G5 and Usb type c otg cables are nonexistent in my nearby Stores.Want to connect a launchpad(which is basically a 8*8 grid of buttons)to my g5.Do i need a otg cable for that or will a standard usb cable work(Thinking of putting a type B into femal to female and getting out type c).

I would think yes. My Google pixel XL needs the OTG adapter as does my Samsung S7 Edge.
