Alright guys, Imma be buildin a new system for my buddy within the next week or so, and I just wanted everyone's input on the part selection. Everything will be bought from memory express in Calgary, thats CAD prices for y'all Americans :P

The build will be used mostly for gaming, with a little bit of animation and Photoshop, monitors will be a single 1080p for the near future, put 1440p isn't out of the question with xmas coming up :) peripherals are not needed.

build looks good however i would wait for a non reference 290 and also are you getting a cpu cooler so you can oc?

edit: if you are video editing wouldn't you want 1600mhz ram? i know for gaming the 1333 and 1600 isn't noticeable but it might be for editing

CPU: i5 4670k with Noctua C12P-SE14 GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 SSD: 250gb Samsung EVO MOBO: MSI Z87-G43 RAM: 8GB G-Skill 1600mhz PSU: Antec HCG 620W CASE: Corsair 300R windowed

I totally agree with Andrew, you should better wait for a non-reference card (As mentionned in the livestream from November 8th), and higher speed RAM made a difference for me using Photoshop, so it might be better to go with 1600MHz or 1866MHz.

Hope this helped,

Greetz.

Totally forgot about a cooler. I'll probably just grab a $100 Noctua or something like that. As for the graphics card, I think the stock cooler will perform well enough as drivers get better. The case has pretty good cooling so heat shouldn't be an issue. Also he doesn't want to wait any Longer.

And as far as RAM goes its not worth the extra money for the small amount he will be doing it will be mostly for gaming. And I totally agree with the non refrence cooler thing. But unless they come out within 2 weeks I don't think I can wait any longer.

Drivers don't affect cooler performance.

Are you limited to only Memoryexpress?

Budget?

I know the drivers don't improve cooling. But they do improve overall peeformance of the card. And yes I am limited to memory express and the budget needs to be under $1500 CAD

If you're not in a hurry, wait for aftermarket 290's before planning.
