What is everyone's opinion on the 1080 Ti? Think it will be worth the purchase over the 1080 series? Or is this a cash grab?

Purchase over a 1080 ... NO. This is a cash grab of course.

Even over 970-980 ... 

 

Simple rules:

- If it works, dont update it.

- You don't know how, just do it, you will learn.

- Test, restest, test again, and maybe it will do it.

Its only for 4k 60fps people. Other than that it is a cash grab

Basically faster than a Titan XP but less then 50% faster than a 980ti and less then 25% faster than a high OCed 980ti. Not worth it.

Reportedly 70% faster than a 1070 and 30% faster than a 1080. Not sure what that other dude is talking about with that 980ti nonsense.  

 

I think its worth getting it if you are using something like EVGA step up program if you already have a 1070 or 1080.

I fully understand how it works. It is a cash grab because if you buy a 1080ti instead of 1080 you would be wasting money as the performance benefits you will get will be negligible(not worth the money)

Yes its my opinion but seeing the specs, the increase in clock speed won't do much of the magic as the bottleneck here is the memory bandwidth which won't be significantly increased until HBM2. So its an educated guess.

Charging $100 over MSRP for the founders cards was a cashgrab.. Releasing the 1080ti is absolutely not, its releasing to compete with AMD's upcoming Vega line, just like the 980ti was released to compete with the Fury.
