Netgear PL1200

I'm looking to get two of these bad boys but I can't find anything anywhere about if they'll work throuch a powerboard, or an extension cable, or if they exclusively work with the power socket.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT:

I do have an extension lead with a passthrough, if that'd work.
