Prebuilt Upgrades

Hello,

I was looking at upgrading an old optiplex I had. It comes with a i5-4460, 16 gigs of DDR3 dual channel, and a 2 TB Hard Drive. If I were to add an RX 480 in it, where would the bottleneck be, and how could I fix it.

 

P.S. I already have a 650w PSU, so power isn't an issue.

RX 480 and i5-4460 would work perfectly i think.. 16gb of ram would be more than enough, and your hard drive isnt all that important (ish).... Only thing would be if theres enough space in the case and on the motherboard - youll need 2 PCI slots on the case, and the one PCI connector on the mobo.... Also check if you have the right cables with the PSU. But beyond that, everything should run fine if it fits and is connected

Depends on the games. A CPU heavy game will bottleneck the GPU as the CPU has to work super hard, but GPU intensive games will bottleneck the GPU. An i5-4460 and RX 480 will work great ^^
