I recently built what was supposed to be a NAS for Plex. Hardware wasn't an issue, but software was something new for me.

Ive used FreeNAS as the OS, and attempted to install Plex from there.

I mostly followed YouTube tutorials and the such, and it's all worked except the last step.

I can open and see my files on the NAS, and the Plex server appears to be running and accessible from my devices. However, Plex can't see the files on the NAS so I can't add them to libraries.

Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Thanks

When you click Jails at the top, and click storage, select the jail, and click edit at the bottom, your destination is where your movies folder is located on the NAS and the Desitnation is /media?

You need to mount a share onto the plex plugin jail by adding storage, if you go watch video tutorial by FreeNAS team they give you detail information:

A similar problem I had with plex was with how i was naming things.  If you didn't have your movies in a folder named "Movies" plex wouldnt see it.  Also the TV shows have strict rules for naming episodes/series etc.  I would check out this website.  https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/categories/200028098-Media-Preparation
