Quick question about CPU

I'm in the process of selling a CPU/RAM/MOBO combo to someone in classifieds. I am not really into the idea of putting it in my case to test it out, so I have an old power supply and I plugged it in and such. My question is, will this processor die if I start it up without a fan? Because my only option is to attach the stock fan to it. I just need to prove that it most certainly can boot.

I mean... if you're desperate to just know if it'll post... you could start it just to see if it posts, then immediately shut it off without damaging anything.

wouldnt risk doing it without heastsink...
