Computer upgrade suggestions

Hi, LTT Community.

Most of my computer parts are 3 years old or more and it is time for a upgrade. Be aware, I custom water cooling my computer, because i like the power of water cooling and it look amazing :)

My current hardwate:

  • Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K
  • PSU: Corsair AX 1200i
  • RAM: Kingston DDR3 HyperX Beast 32GB (1600MHz 4x8GB)
  • CPU: 2 x MSI GeForce GTX 1080 FE
  • SSD: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 1TB BK OEM

What i have in mind as my new hardware:

  • Motherboard: ASUS Maximus IX Formula
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake
  • PSU: Corsair AX 1200i (From my old setup)
  • RAM: Corsair Dominator DDR4 3200MHz 16GB (2x8GB)
  • CPU: 2 x MSI GeForce GTX 1080 FE (From my old setup)
  • SSD: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 1TB BK OEM (From my old setup)
  • M.2: Corsair Force MP500 240GB M.2 PCIe SSD

What do you think, should i go for it or do you have any suggestions? I expect that i will be overclocking my CPU like I have overclock my GPUs.

I would wait because these components are still very good and can run anything.

Yes I like what i have. But i also need a second computer. So i will rather buy new hardware for my main computer, than for a secondary computer.

If you are truly wanting an upgrade and can wait a couple weeks I would. Ryzen releases in a week and we will get to see how well it overclocks. Running a custom loop you would be I  position to get the best possible gains and could actually see an upgrade over the 7700k. Also with the nvme and sli 1080s you would benefit from the 24 pcie lanes of ryzen over the 20 of kaby Lake.
