Random Low FPS moments

Hello all, 

 

My brothers GTX 960 is giving me some issues, after a few minutes in game my frames drop to like 20-25 average. This usually lasts for a few minutes then stops for a short moment before frames start dropping again, my old gpu never had issues like this. I was using the most recent nvidia drivers

 

What could be causing problems like this?

Try checking temperatures and GPU usage while playing and see if there's anything abnormal. Also, what game(s) are you playing?

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

I tried CSGO, For Honor, and Dishonored 2, strangely I was getting less drops in dishonored 2, probs was just luck. I will go get the card and try looking at temps and stuff
