Adobe Media Encoder CPU or GPU?

Yeah I am one of those guys. Not talented enough to make his own AE Stuff.

Lol... a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. I use a 5K display when editing. I edit 1080p at 1/4 resolution and it is unplayable while editing

 

2.6 GHz Intel Core i7

16GB RAM

Radeon Pro 450 2048 MB

Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB

What do you edit with?

 

That should handle ae stuff fine.

I edit 4K video in Final Cut with no problem even in full-res playback. I know 3D rendering is more intensive but AE is not even playable in 1/4 res.

That effect seems to be very hard on system. For most basic ae stuff. my laptop(dell m6600, i7 2720qm, 20gb ram, quadro 3000m) will handle it just fine. Id say just go easy on the very hard to play effects

Thanks for all your help! I guess I have two problems. Terrible playback and rendering. Man rendering kills my poor MacBook. I didn't know my fans could get that loud. LOL Any recommendations for optimizing AE playback. Maybe using ciniform

use effects that don't need as much power. Most effects will run fine on that system.

 

You can also render out ram previews.
