generally the NZXT Krakken is one of the best regarded AIOs. For something slightly cheaper, Corsair is also very reputable. EK might be the most reputable, but they're very expensive and they discontinued their AIO and are supposed to come out with a new AIO this spring.

Leaks can happen but they seem to be exceedingly rare, probably on the order of buying any other defective PC component. An awful lot of people are using AIO coolers, and if leaks were common we'd probably hear about it constantly.

 

Performance depends on the model. Generally speaking, higher-end air coolers tend to compare favorably against midrange AIO liquid coolers from a purely value-per-dollar perspective, but if you like the cleanliness, aesthetics, and convenience of AIO liquid coolers you may find it worthwhile to spend a little more.
