I'm noticing some sounds coming from one of my Samsung (Seagate) Spinpoint drives that would indicate it's on it's way out, it's just over a year old and should have about 10 months of warranty left. I'm just wondering if for a hard drive RMA does the drive have to completely fail or are the sounds of bad bearing enough to allow an RMA?

I spend too much on my PC. Then I spend even more on my Sim Rig. Damn, this stuff's expensive.

You can probably RMA it if you have proof that it's failing.

Check the S.M.A.R.T. data.  Most places will RMA is the data shows the drive is bad.

"SeaTools" can be used to check data.
