I have a 1TB hard drive that i am replacing with a new 1TB hard drive i want to move all my data to the new drive but all i can find on ways to do this are companies saying "use our software" or that i would need another drive to create an image on install the new drive then import the image is there a better way. what I thought about doing was to setup a raid1 then after it builds the raid remove the old drive and remove raid would that work.

Why not just download some freeware, or just copy paste files?

(unless the HDD is your boot drive, in which case you cant copy/paste)

While many find it worthwhile to pay for the convenience and ease of use offered by a for-purchase program, there are a few popular free alternatives that may do the job just as well, such as Macrium Reflect Free, ShadowCopy, Clonezilla, and EaseUS Todo Backup Free.
