Headphone Upgrade?

I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD598s but considering getting a pair of AKG K7XXs from Massdrop (200 USD).  Is it worth the upgrade?

It might be if you like the sound better. We have no way of knowing that.

 

You should first identify the types of music you listen to the most, and any shortcomings you've  identified with your current headphone.

I guess I'd have to go with Classical as far as what I listen to most often, but my tastes are varied and include EDM, Rock, Metal, Soul/R&B, pretty much anything except the real Pop'y stuff.

Actually I'm pretty happy with the 598s but was considering moving them to my travel kit (tired of putting up with my cheap earbuds) and getting a replacement for my daily driver.  The flip-side of this question is whether I should be looking at something specific for travel, but the 598s are reasonably light-weight and decently sturdy

I'd keep the 598 as your main headphone and get something different and closed back for travel. Maybe even onears. 

I tried a friend's 598s and liked them more than my 7xx.
