GPU passthrough using VMWare is a mess, if you want to use MacOS just use your VM to make a Clover-based install disk and install it on the hardware instead of fucking around with it.

gpu passtrough using anything other than a deeply OS-integrated solution is a mess.

pretty much - if it aint linux you can't pass through

nah, you can even do it on windows of all things, but windows likes to grab everything it can, so you need to make it not grab said gpu, so you can pass it trough.

it's like a kid walking trough a candy store, and you have to run behind it slapping its hands when it tries to take candy.

i found a guide about it *at some point*

the tldr was: "dont bother, its not worth"

so looking some more you can in hyper-v 2016. It seems much worse than the current linux implemation. If this gets good and they put it in the desktop version and add a good gui this might be cool

if i recall, it was an article on virtualbox, on a feature that ended up being pulled because it was *SO* unreliable.

it's actually quite elegant in HV2016, thanks for the reading material. it wouldn't surprise me if they integrated this for Azure alone, as lots of people wanted GPU VMs.

idk
